One design, everywhere

goframe drive now looks like one product — in the browser, in the Mac app’s windows and in the menu bar.

Every screen follows one design system: the goframe identity, one set of colors, type and controls, and Apple’s Liquid Glass on macOS Tahoe. The dot grid is the one sign of waiting and of life, wherever it appears.

Menu bar

  • The panel is rebuilt on Liquid Glass: your account and connection, your drives with Mount, Eject and Reveal, live upload activity and updates.
  • Upload activity moves as uploads happen. Before, the panel said “No active uploads” whatever was going on.
  • The menu-bar icon animates while files move and shows a red badge when a drive fails to mount.

Also

  • New type on the web: Inter and JetBrains Mono, served from goframe drive itself.
  • The last traces of the product’s former name and logo are gone.
  • The installer is 2 MB smaller: 12.2 MB.

0.3.9

Drag and drop, done right

A file you drag into a drive keeps its full size in the browser from the first second, and uploads once.

Dragging a file onto a drive in Finder starts an import in the app. Finder’s own copy of the same file used to run beside it: the browser showed the file at 0 bytes until the import finished, and the file went up twice. Now the app absorbs Finder’s copy and uploads the file once.

  • The upload panel shows progress as the upload goes — not 0 % until the very end.
  • When storage refuses an upload for a moment, the app waits for the next write instead of retrying in a loop.
  • Temporary files left by an interrupted upload are cleaned up at the next mount.

0.3.8

Copies at the speed of your disk

Copying into a mounted drive now finishes as fast as your Mac can write. The upload carries on in the background.

While a file is still being copied, its finished 4 MiB windows already upload, sixteen pieces at a time. When the copy ends, the file is journaled on your Mac and ready to use; whatever is left uploads in the background. Teammates see the file as soon as the upload lands.

  • Closing or saving a file answers as soon as the bytes are written on your Mac.
  • An upload cut short by a crash resumes at the next mount.
  • A large copy no longer ends with “Operation timed out”.
  • A folder no longer grows a duplicate entry when macOS deletes and re-creates a file during a copy.
  • A deleted file stays deleted: an upload that lands late can’t bring it back.

0.3.7

Plays from the drive

Video on a mounted drive plays and scrubs in your editor without being downloaded first.

goframe drive now reads ahead of the playhead — 2 MiB at first, up to 16 MiB as playback continues — and fetches the pieces of a file eight at a time. A jump to another spot costs one small fetch. Playback runs as fast as your connection carries it.

  • Each file’s layout is fetched once per mount instead of on every read.
  • Apps reading the same file share one download of each piece.
  • Apps that size their reads from the disk now ask for 1 MiB at a time.
  • Tested with QuickTime Player and DaVinci Resolve.

0.3.6

Back in Finder

Mounted drives appear in Finder again.

From 0.3.0 to 0.3.5 a mounted drive worked in Terminal and in the app, but Finder didn’t show it: its files stopped reporting when they were created and last opened, and Finder needs both. They report them again.

Also in 0.3.1 – 0.3.5

  • 0.3.1 fixes a crash at launch in 0.3.0.
  • 0.3.2: settings show each drive’s mount state, so Mount is offered when a drive isn’t mounted.
  • 0.3.3: Eject works — it asks macOS to eject the drive instead of a command that can’t unmount it.

0.3.0

The browser catches up

Files open, preview and download in the browser, and a change made in Finder reaches the browser within seconds.

This release closes the first hardening program: an end-to-end audit of the Mac app, the drive and the service behind them, and the fixes that came out of it.

  • Requires macOS Tahoe 26.0+. Macs on older systems keep 0.2.7 and aren’t offered this update.
  • The web app loads in small pieces instead of one 12.5 MB script.

0.2.0 – 0.2.7

goframe drive begins

The first releases under the goframe drive name.

  • Sign in with a one-time code sent to your e‑mail. No passwords, no Google sign-in — and no analytics or crash reporting anywhere in the product.
  • The installer puts goframe drive in Applications, and the app keeps itself up to date: it checks at launch and every 6 hours and installs only a package whose checksum and Apple signature match.
  • The first run creates your first drive and mounts it.
  • The drive appears in Finder as a real disk, built on Apple’s FSKit.
  • Upload files from the browser.
  • The Mac app renews its session by itself, so you stay signed in.
