Features
Everything goframe drive does.
A real disk in Finder, the same drives in any browser, and the machinery in between — explained, with the numbers it runs on.
- the volume Finder sees
- 1 PiB
- read ahead of a playing file
- 16 MiB
- uploads in flight per drive
- 16
- checked on every shard
- SHA‑256
01In Finder
A real disk. Not a sync folder.
goframe drive mounts each drive in Finder with Apple’s FSKit, as a volume like any other. An app opens a file straight from it, and nothing is downloaded up front.
A native volume
Mounted under Locations. Finder sees a 1 PiB volume, so your Mac’s disk size is not the limit.
Context menu
Right-click a file: Copy goframe drive Link, Share, Pin to goframe drive.
Pin and unpin
Pin files or folders to keep them on this Mac; unpin to give the space back.
Finder badges
An Uploading badge marks files that are still on their way to the cloud.
Share menu
From any app’s share sheet, send files to a drive — they upload in the background.
Drag and drop
Drop files onto a drive: the app imports them, shows progress and uploads each once.

The drive does not support symbolic links, hard links or extended attributes (Finder tags).
02Streaming
Opens before it downloads. Plays while it streams.
Your Mac fetches only the parts of a file an app reads. When playback runs ahead, goframe drive reads ahead of it; a jump to another point costs one small fetch. Tested in QuickTime and DaVinci Resolve.

- Shards fetched per read

- Large shards
- 1 MiB ranged parts
- Storage requests in flight
- 32 per drive
- Memory cache
- 256 MiB per drive
- Disk cache
- 10 GiB
- Verification
- SHA‑256, every shard
Throughput is your connection’s. In our tests on one Mac with a 10 MB/s link, sequential reads ran at the link’s speed, and a jump to an uncached point took 0.3–0.6 s (1.4–2 s while readahead filled the link).
03Writes
Saves at the speed of your disk. Uploads in the background.
Copy a file into a drive and Finder finishes when your disk does. goframe drive stores each 4 MiB window as soon as it is written, journals the rest on your Mac, answers the app and uploads while you keep working. If goframe drive quits mid-upload, the upload resumes at the next mount.

04Live
Change it in Finder. See it in the browser.
Renames, moves, deletes and new files reach every Mac and browser on the drive within seconds, over a live channel authorized per drive. If the channel drops, Macs check for changes every 60 s and browsers every 30 s.

05In the browser
The same drives, in any browser.
drive.goframe.dev opens every drive you have, with nothing to install. Browse, upload, preview, download whole folders and share read-only links.

A file, or a whole folder as one ZIP of up to 50,000 files.
Public links
Read-only and open without an account. Rotate or revoke any time; up to 16 per item.

07The Mac app
Lives in the menu bar. Updates itself.
A menu-bar panel shows your connection, your drives and what is uploading. The app is signed with Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and installs its own updates — only after checking them.

Updates itself
Checks at launch and every 6 hours; verifies SHA‑256 and the Developer ID signature before it installs.
